Caribbean communities are mourning the loss of two Caribbean sons – Haitian footballer Emmanuel "Manno" Sanon and Jamaican record producer, Joel "Joe" Gibbs.
Manno was best known for being the only Haitian footballer ever to score a goal at the World Cup against both Italy and Argentina in his country's lone appearance in 1974. Both goals can be seen below in the YouTube videos.
He passed away last Thursday in Orlando, FL at the age of 56 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife and four children. Haitian Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis called for a moment of silence last Friday to honour the fallen hero who brought the island so much joy and pride.
Jamaican record producer Joe Gibbs, meanwhile, was well-known in the reggae world as a driving force in the recording industry from the 60s and 70s to the present. He may best be remembered for releases like Culture's Two Sevens Clash, his African Dub series, and JC Lodge's Someone Loves You Honey. VP Records have exclusive rights on their 17 North Parade imprint to re-release his complete catalogue – including the Barrington Levy collection – in the coming months. Gibbs passed away at the age of 65. Satellite radio station Sirius will air his last interview on their Reggae Rhythms channel on 2 March as part of the debut of their new weekly Sunday Classics series.

Manno also scored in Haiti's opening match against Italy in the same World Cup. In fact, that goal ended Dino Zoff's 1142 consecutive minutes with a clean sheet on the national team, a world record that still stands.
thanks for that, nochmal! we've updated the post, including video of both goals.
